From the very beginning of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of personalities, and a gripping narrative including celestial beings, fiends, and dark forces growing in influence within the city.
Note: Key plot points for the latest installment of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The third episode concluded with a major cliffhanger and presented the first table of heroes who will split off from the primary party to undertake their own adventure, distinct from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team consists of the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Considering an extensive roster, it was evident from the outset that keeping everyone at one table would be impossible.
This explains, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Overture, connecting the personal journeys before dividing into three separate parties: Soldiers, Planners, and Questers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
According to the DM, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who are drawn to a classically intense combat and conflict-driven story mode where non-violent answers are scarce.
At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might seem mismatched, but the actions of the latest installment show why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
First, the group understands precisely where to proceed after a intense opening clash with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose passing started the story’s plot—exploited the enemy for his selfish purposes, entering Thjazi’s hideout, striking the rogue, and stealing all the powerful objects to sell off.
The traitor then paid off his obligations and escaped to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each character has a specific drive to exit the urban setting:
- The rogue, as the close ally and closest confidant, seeks retribution.
- Kattigan is familiar with Timmony and cautions that it is a dangerous environment.
- Tyranny and The healer, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to kill the fighter and instead freed him, have no other options.
- But, their status as prominent individuals in the influential clan could help the party enter areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The fighter pledged a unbreakable promise to The savior for his deliverance and will now accompany him everywhere.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are hunted by the authorities that rule the city for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and The cleric betrayed the powerful family and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- The fighter is marked for death by House Halovar.
This means them few options but to travel to the remote area in pursuit of Casimir.
Future Episodes
According to the latest episode’s follow-up content, we learn that the combat party won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight participants to round up the Questers and Planners groups.
Fans can look forward to learning which adventurers will be in which group in the season’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on October 24.
